Students Visit Fort Fisher Aquarium

Last Tuesday, July 24th, Dunn PAL took a trip to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, near Wilmington. The students that attended wore shirts that they tie-dyed a few days before. The high school and middle school students paired up with their own group of younger students to show them around. The first section housed reptilian animals such as turtles, iguanas, and alligators. In the middle of the area, a bald eagle was keeping watch on the human visitors who were all crowded around the exhibits. In the aquarium, the students viewed many marine animals. At one exhibit, they were allowed to touch horseshoe crabs and small, brown sharks. Some of the students had the chance to go outside on a trail to see dinosaur animatronics and watch them move and make noises. There were different games and activities that the students could do to help them interact and understand animal lifestyles. The staff at the aquarium was very helpful at providing information on different animals they had there as well as any new information they receive on new species.
