Now that both school and the Dunn PAL after-school program are in full swing, seasonal events will begin taking place in town to celebrate the incoming holiday stretch.
Firstly, we will be putting on our first ever Dunn PAL vs Dunn Police Department eSports Day on Saturday, October 12, from 1-6 PM at the GameStop in Erwin.
This event will include video games, food trucks, and prizes for community members who wish to participate. Dunn police officers will stop by and play games with the community as they go about their daily shift. This event also serves as a fundraiser for the PAL after-school program.
On Thursday, October 24 from 5-7 PM, the PAL will have its annual Lights on After School Open House in the Dunn PAL Fitness Center, located at 610 East Johnson Street. This event will be a large showcase for the after-school program and display projects that students are currently working on with their instructors.
Two days later on Saturday the 26th, our first ever Family Fright Night will take place, also at the PAL Fitness Center. Fright Night will be a big costume party for Dunn PAL students and the community alike. There will also be a costume contest, so come in your best outfits and enjoy an evening of music, candy, and entertainment.
Halloween day, Thursday October 31, the PAL’s annual Fall Festival will take place at the Fitness Center. This one will strictly be for just PAL students. Parents are being asked to supply one bag of candy per children they have enrolled in the after-school program. In previous years, the festival has included Halloween-style music, interactive games that win prizes (namely candy), and face-painting.
