PAL Community Service Project

For the past week, Dunn PAL’s Youth Leadership Council and Reach One Mentoring Program has joined together with some professionals to work on our 2018 community service project.
Last year, our community service project was combined with our Lights on Afterschool Program. It was about bullying and how we can come together and try to stop it. This year, our project is a little more difficult. We are repairing and painting the insides of the PAL buildings that were damaged due to hurricanes Florence and Michael.
Last week, we worked on painting the back room where our wrestlers go to practice. After we finish back there, we will work on the hallway where the Media Arts room is located. A lot of damage was done to the walls and exterior.
The education building will come next. This is where the students actually stay most of the time so it is in need of fixing the most. The paint on the walls is bubbling up and peeling off. We will clean the walls and repaint them so it looks more inviting.
Lastly, we have to work on the PAL Fitness Center. There was some damage done to a few walls and as far as I know we will be working on building some classrooms in the back of the gym where there is a lot of space. We plan on finishing everything by the end of December so we will be very busy.
