Week 7 Trip Recap

Last Tuesday, July 31, Dunn PAL went to United Skates in Raleigh. Before they were allowed to skate, they learned about sound waves and how noise is made. One activity involved cutting the tip of a straw to form a triangle, then the students had to chew on the triangle to soften up the plastic. Once they did that, they had to blow as hard as they could to try and make a noise come out of the straw. If they did not get it, they had to try it again. Another activity presented a ballon that had a penny or a bolt in it, then students listened to the sound it made when it circles inside. The students then got their skates and ate lunch before they were able to go skate.

On Wednesday, the students went to the pool for a few hours. After pool time was up, they ate lunch then went to the PAL gym. At the gym, they met a dance choreographer, Ms. Lianne Solina. Ms. Solina worked with the kids to teach them a dance for National Night Out. She started with the younger group of kids then worked her way up to the oldest ones. It took some time, but eventually everyone got their parts down. We practiced several times before it was deemed acceptable.
