The Dunn Wildcats Varsity boys basketball team travelled to Tennessee this past weekend to take part in the 2018 Teammate Nationals Tournament in Pigeon Forge, where they earned second place overall.

In the first game of the weekend versus TN Impact, Dunn put together an impressive performance to earn a 67-57 victory. Senior Shiquan Cox led the team with 12 points and 9 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks. Three other Wildcats had 11 points to put four boys in double digits at the end of four quarters.

Game 2 was an absolute rout against Alabama Heat Elite. Chrishaun Henry led the Wildcats with 19 points and 8 boards while Maurice Williams and Cox both contributed 13 points. Cox also had 9 rebounds and 3 blocks to help propel Dunn to an incredible 63-19 win.

The third game of the weekend would have been a rematch with the previous team, but due to forfeit, the Wildcats were given a 20-0 win.

Game 4 saw more competition as the Wildcats moved to 4-0 overall against the SWVA Nets, 79-63. Cox led the team with a tournament-high 29 points and 10 rebounds to earn himself a double-double. Junior Khalil Ridges followed him up to add 15 points in a strong offensive display for Dunn.

The fifth game of the tournament proved to be a tough contest, as the Wildcats lost their first game of the weekend to Florence USA, 70-59.
Ridges led the team this time with 27 points and 5 boards while Henry, Williams, and Cox added 9, 8, and 8 points respectively.

Semi-final match number 2 saw the Wildcats enter the lower bracket against the Union Hawks. Henry led the way with 19 points and 7 rebounds while 3 other Wildcats, Williams, Cox, and Ridges entered double digits. Dunn defeated Union 66-55 to advance to the National Championship game against Florence.

The National Championship was a hard-fought game but Florence proved to once again be too much, as the Wildcats fell 62-49. Cox once again impressed with a 21-point performance to add to his team-high 94 overall points in the tournament. Henry was the next-closest contributor at 10 points and 7 boards.
