First Week Field Trip Recap

Last Tuesday, Dunn PAL went on their first field trip of the summer to Dunn City Hall. When we arrived there, the students were split into three groups by age. At city hall, we toured the financial center where people can pay their water bills or set up accounts. Then we were shown where town meetings are held, as well as some of the offices for council members. On Wednesday, we were able to visit the Daily Record. We looked at the building where the newspapers are actually printed and cut out. The tour guides showed us were they keep old newspapers, hard copies of newspapers, and where they write the articles. After we finished there, we went to Sherry’s Bakery to eat lunch. On Thursday, the students in grades K-3 went to the fire station. The students in grades 4-11 were split into two different groups. One group went to the Dunn Area History Museum and the other group went to the William C. Lee Airborne Museum. At the William C. Lee Airborne Museum, we learned all about the “Father of the Airborne” and his life. We saw different artifacts like weapons and clothes that were used in both World War 1 and 2 from both sides of the war.
