Varsity Takes Home State Championship

The Varsity Wildcats squad travelled to Raleigh this past weekend and competed in the USBA State Championship. Four games and four wins later, they hoisted the first place trophy Sunday afternoon.

In the first game, Dunn faced off against the Carolina Blazers. Senior Shiquan Cox lead the team with a double-double at 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Chrishaun Henry also added 12 points and 7 rebounds to help the Wildcats defeat the Blazers, 55-44.

For game 2, the Wildcats battled the Swarm City Hornets. Cox once again led the way with 23 points and senior Christion Green added 10 points with 7 rebounds. Dunn defeated the Hornets, 59-48.

Game 3 saw a very close rematch with the Blazers. This time, Green sat atop the stats with 15 points with Cox right behind him at 14. In total, the team brought down 19 rebounds to help eek out a tight 46-45 victory.

The championship game featured the Wildcats versus the Sandhills Cyclones. Henry led the team with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals as Cox followed him with 18 points and 9 boards. Dunn emerged victorious with a 66-58 title win.

The team will be back in action in Charlotte this weekend as part of the NTBA Concord Challenge.
