Wildcats Varsity Take Third at Spring Tip-Off

The 11/12th grade boy’s Dunn Wildcats basketball team earned a 3rd-place finish at the USBA Spring Tip-Off last weekend at Methodist University in Fayetteville.

After winning two games in pool play and earning a 2-seed, they lost their elimination game 65-64 Saturday evening against the eventual champion, the LBA Thunder.

In Game 1 against the Fayetteville Spurs on Friday night, the Wildcats won 66-52.
Junior Khalil Ridges led the way with a team-high 22 points while making 8 of 13 shots. He also added 1 steal. Junior Chrishaun Henry added 14 points and 6 rebounds on 55% shooting. Senior Shiquan Cox added 13 points and 5 rebounds.

In Game 2 against the LBA Thunder Saturday morning, they won 67-60.
Senior Maurice Williams went off for 30 points while making 11 of his 18 attempts. He also added 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Shiquan Cox contributed 16 points and grabbed 7 boards. Junior Kani McKinley had a nice defensive game with 4 blocks and 4 steals.

The elimination round saw a Wildcats and Thunder rematch where Dunn fell, 65-64.
Khalil Ridges led the team again with 25 points, making 8 of 13 shots. Maurice Williams finished with 18 points on 7 of 12 shooting.

The Wildcats will be back in Fayetteville this weekend for the Regional Tip-Off at Freedom Courts.
