It’s nearly time for school, which means it’s also almost time for football season to begin. The Dunn PAL Youth Leadership Council has partnered with UNC Chapel Hill to give students work experience at sporting events.
Last year, I had a really good time while helping run concession stands at UNC football and basketball games. I got to hang out with a lot of my close friends and eat a lot of good food. There was a lot of work put into running the concession stands, most of which came from the training. Before we were able to step foot in to the concession stands, we had to go through a basic training program that taught us how to use the cash register, greet customers, and prepare food in a timely fashion. Even though we were working concessions we were still able to take breaks and go see the game which was probably my favorite thing about working there. When all our concessions were finished, all of the money we collected goes toward our YLC funds which in return goes back to our community. It really warms my heart that I’m out there working for a great cause, my community!
