Youth Leadership’s Impact On Dunn PAL

Dunn PAL has many different programs that they offer for students, one of them being the Youth Leadership Council. Youth Leadership is a student-run program that is coordinated by Stephanie Coxum. As of right now, we have around 40 or more middle and high school students involved. In YLC, we find ways to help others and give back to the community. One event that will be coming up is the Lights on After School bash. YLC raises money to go out and buy school supplies for many students in the area. We set up booths for different businesses to come and help pass out supplies as well as promote their business. A lot of the money raised at PAL comes from YLC and all of the fundraisers we operate. We also do a community service project during the summer where we help out the mentoring program come up with ideas. Last year the project was about bullying and the effects it has on people. We painted canvases and gave them to schools and businesses. Youth Leadership also helps with the Harnett County Special Olympics each year. We help all of the children who need a volunteer to complete certain events as well as run the carnival stations for those who cannot participate in the other events. Youth Leadership Council helps students develop skills that can help them later on in their careers.
